The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) has proposed revisions to LEED for Existing Buildings Version 5 (LEED-EB:O+M V5), which if left unchanged, would be a major setback to the professional cleaning industry. For more than two decades, LEED has defined the standards for a comprehensive green cleaning program, even for facilities that are not LEED certified. If we do not act, the problematic changes that are proposed likely will not be revised for another five years.
