ISSA has partnered with NAW to update our members on the rapidly evolving Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) landscape and the opportunity for companies to engage in active litigation efforts.

The session is designed for ISSA members tracking EPR legislation and evaluating whether to participate in coalition-based legal and policy efforts. NAW will provide a real-time update on the status of EPR litigation, what companies should expect next, and how interested members could join NAW’s broader coalition strategy.

The goal of the webinar is to give ISSA members a clear understanding of:

  • The current EPR litigation landscape
  • Why EPR is a growing concern for manufacturers, distributors, and other channel partners
  • How NAW is leading legal challenges in key states
  • What participation in NAW’s coalition efforts looks like
  • And how companies can have a seat at the table as these cases develop

  • Eric Hoplin
    Eric Hoplin
President and CEO, National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors (NAW)

Eric Hoplin is President and CEO of the National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors (NAW), which represents the $8.2 trillion wholesale distribution industry, that powers one-third of the American economy by delivering the essential products businesses need to serve customers across nearly every sector of commerce.

Since joining NAW in 2020, Hoplin has led a transformative period of growth, more than doubling the size of the organization. Under his leadership, NAW launched new capabilities in analytics and AI, and it acquired Modern Distribution Management (MDM), which significantly broadened NAW’s reach and impact across the industry. In the advocacy arena, NAW launched the Legal Policy Center and has expanded into handling state-based issues in addition to federal. A strong believer in the vital role wholesale distribution plays in the American economy and way of life, he is committed to positioning distributors for long-term success through advocacy, thought leadership, and innovation.

A Minnesota native, Hoplin holds a Master of International Affairs degree from Columbia University, an M.B.A. from Augsburg College, a B.A. in political science and communications from St. Olaf College.

Dan Schuberth has a diverse range of work experience. Dan is currently the Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) at the National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors. Prior to this role, they served as the Chief Business Development Officer at the same organization.

Before joining the National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors, Dan worked at McMaster-Carr for several years. Dan started as a Credit Strategy Group Supervisor and held various roles including Phone Contact Center Manager, Regional Sales Operations Manager, and Regional Warehouse Operations Manager. Dan also served as the Director of Human Resources, where they developed and executed a comprehensive COVID-19 safety and testing program for a distribution center.

Dan Schuberth received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and American History from Bowdoin College in 2006. In 2003, they also obtained an Honors Followship in Political Science from the University of Oxford.
