This FREE event is open to companies who do business, sell products, clean buildings,
or make decisions on how buildings are cleaned in the States of NY or PA.

We are pleased to invite you to one of two stakeholder meetings held in April 2025 by our Making Safer Choices Project. The meetings’ purpose is to share survey results indicating gaps in current cleaning practices and opportunities to influence decisions.

We hope you will see this as a valuable opportunity to drive innovation and advance cleaning practices and improve the bottom line in your organization.

We will discuss plans to:
  • Establish a Community of Practice supported by an Advisory Council to create a team that helps communities understand current cleaning practices and seek opportunities to expand procurement and use of Safer Choice products.
  • Set a research agenda for Women’s Health and Cleaning Products and Pathways to Safer Cleaning.
  • Identify companies and facilities in Pennsylvania and New York that use Safer Choice labeled products to develop and publish case studies, storytelling videos, and articles.
  • Outline toolkits and training courses that currently exist or need to be developed for Safer Choice products in 2025 that will include:
  • Playbook highlighting the contribution of the entire value-chain of the cleaning industry for Safer Choice products.
  • Standard Operating Procedures and “How-to-Clean” videos for Safer Choice products.
  • Training courses for increasing the use of Safer Choice products such as a Certified Workloading Specialist program.

The Making Safer Choices project is being implemented by the Penn State College of Medicine, The City University of New York (CUNY) School of Medicine, and ISSA – The Worldwide Cleaning Industry Association.

Each meeting space will accommodate 50 companies. This FREE event is open to companies who do business, sell products, clean buildings, or make decisions on how buildings are cleaned in the States of NY or PA.

    Dr. Gavin Macgregor-Skinner has more than 30 years of technical experience in responding to infectious disease outbreaks and emergency management. He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Public Health Sciences at Penn State College of Medicine and teaches three 15-week graduate courses on Public Health Preparedness for Disasters and Terrorist Emergencies. In 2014 he received the Dean’s Award for Excellence in teaching. He has appeared on CNN, Fox News, BBC, Canada CTV, Australia ABC, C-SPAN, and other news outlets to share his expertise on High Consequence Pathogens such as Coronavirus, Ebola, Influenza, Measles, Cholera, Zika and other global health threats. He served 12-years as an Officer in the Australian and British militaries and was an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer at the U.S. CDC in Atlanta, Georgia, and a Global Health Fellow with the United States Agency for International Development in Washington DC.
