Dr. Gavin Macgregor-Skinner has more than 30 years of technical experience in responding to infectious disease outbreaks and emergency management. He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Public Health Sciences at Penn State College of Medicine and teaches three 15-week graduate courses on Public Health Preparedness for Disasters and Terrorist Emergencies. In 2014 he received the Dean’s Award for Excellence in teaching. He has appeared on CNN, Fox News, BBC, Canada CTV, Australia ABC, C-SPAN, and other news outlets to share his expertise on High Consequence Pathogens such as Coronavirus, Ebola, Influenza, Measles, Cholera, Zika and other global health threats. He served 12-years as an Officer in the Australian and British militaries and was an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer at the U.S. CDC in Atlanta, Georgia, and a Global Health Fellow with the United States Agency for International Development in Washington DC.
Steve Arehart is the Senior Director of Operations for GBAC, managing a team of GBAC Analysts who facilitate the expanding GBAC ® STAR Portfolio. Arehart draws on 15 years of environmental health and safety experience, focused on biosafety, biorisk management, and general safety, in addition to a Biomedical Science degree from Western Michigan University.
Dr. Roula M. Abdel-Massih has over two decades of experience in academia and research within the field of biological sciences. She currently serves as the Director of Product Development at ISSA and leads the GBAC STAR® Registered Technology and Programs (USA). With active involvement in professional societies, she has authored over 40 publications and presented at numerous international conferences. Roula’s expertise lies in developing innovative educational strategies and promoting advancements in public health and biological sciences. Noteworthy achievements include being elected as an education fellow in the US National Academies, completing the APLD Program at Harvard, obtaining certification as an IFBA Certified Professional in Biorisk Management, and receiving the TYAN Collaborative Grant Award at Emory. Recently, Roula was honored as an International Science Council Fellow, acknowledging her significant contributions to the promotion of science as a global public good. She also serves as the co-chair of The Young Affiliates Network.
